The Johnsonville Club is one of Wellington's most progressive community hubs, offering a warm and friendly venue just 10 minutes by car or 20 minutes by train from Wellington CBD.
Our bar, restaurant, gaming room, TAB, and function centre serve a vibrant membership and community base, and we’re seeking an experienced Senior Hospitality Manager to lead our operations.
The Role
Reporting to the Club President, you’ll oversee all aspects of the Club’s day-to-day operations, including:
- Managing bar, restaurant, gaming, TAB, and function centre services.
- Driving marketing initiatives to grow membership, events, and functions.
- Ensuring compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act, Gaming Act – especially licence applications and key persons, Incorporated Societies Act and other regulations.
- Leading and developing a high-performing team.
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Delivering sound financial management, including Xero and POS systems.
What You’ll Bring
- Senior management experience in the hospitality industry, including functions expertise.
- Current General Manager’s Certificate (essential), or the ability to attain one within 3 months.
- Proven leadership and marketing skills.
- Detailed knowledge of bar, restaurant, gaming, and TAB operations.
- Familiarity with Xero and POS systems.
- Strong communication and IT skills.
- A collaborative approach to team and stakeholder management.
- An understanding of how clubs work would be beneficial.
- The ability to achieve and maintain Key Persons status with the Dept of Internal Affairs.
