Club Managers Group Update

27 October 2022

The Club Mangers Conference was recently held at Whangamata Club with 80 + attendees.  After a 2-year hiatus it was great to be able to get Managers back together and network as a group.

At the Club Managers group meeting the proposed structural change was adopted.

The Club Managers Group now has an advisory board made up of:

  • Club Managers Group Chair: Vince Gardner
  • Upper North Island: Steve Flint
  • Lower North Island: Iain Craw
  • South Island: Trudi Marshall
  • Clubs New Zealand Board Rep: Neil McDowall
  • Clubs New Zealand National Office Rep:

The advisory committee has been put in place for a 3-year period, along with a 3-year Cycle of Mangers Conferences

  • 2023 - Sydney AGE
  • 2024 - Porirua Club
  • 2025 - Petone Club

There was also discussion around the conference structure, namely is it a Clubs New Zealand Management conference or a Club Mangers Conference. It was decided the focus should be on the Managers, as the Clubs AGM provides the opportunity for Governance training to be delivered to executives. This is not to say that Governance attendees wouldn’t be welcome (particularly smaller Clubs where Governance is the management), but there is a need for Managers to network together free from Governance aspects.

At the meeting we also said farewell to Lee Davis who has been at the helm for the last 10 years, Lee was presented with a “Hall of Fame“ award and thanked for his years of toil on behalf of the Managers Group.

I look forward to the challenges ahead

Regards

Vince Gardner
Club Managers Group Chair
