Sign in registers and the Privacy Act 2020

Many of you will have seen the guidance from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in regards to alternative contact tracing registers and the need to ensure that they comply with the Privacy Act 2020.  

“Using an open sheet or register left in a public-facing position where personal information is visible to others is a leading cause of COVID-19-related privacy breaches. It’s important that businesses provide other methods of collecting and storing contact tracing records, but in ways which also protect the privacy of those whose details are being collected.” Says Privacy Commissioner John Edwards.

Face covering exemptions

Face coverings can help reduce the spread of COVID-19. They stop droplets spreading when someone speaks, laughs, coughs or sneezes.  There are a number of situations and locations where wearing a face covering is mandatory such as on public transport, visiting healthcare or aged care facilities, inside retail businesses or public venues such as museums and libraries.

MEDIA RELEASE: Restrictions on Club Sport are Strangling the Chartered Club Industry

If the Alert Level restrictions are not eased soon, we will see clubs closing their doors for good, says Clubs New Zealand.

“Clubs have continually supported the measures put in place to stop the spread of COVID-19, however, the current restrictions, which prohibit most club activities, including sports are strangling our clubs and reducing them to nothing more than food and beverage outlets”, says Chief Executive Larry Graham.

Future proofing your plastic cards

20 September 2021

We have been receiving a few enquiries from clubs wanting to future proof their plastic cards to be compatible with new technology going forward.

The key for now is to print a QR code on the card which matches the Clubs New Zealand app.  To do this your card printer needs to add a QR code with a text field which is your club number followed by the member number.  Please contact National Office on 0800 425 827 to confirm your club code.

Clubs New Zealand 2021 National Census

Yesterday on the 15th September, all clubs were emailed the Clubs New Zealand 2021 National Census Document for completion.

This census is designed to provide a national snapshot of the club sector. It will present invaluable information to key industry stakeholders about the important role that clubs play in both their local communities and at a national level.  This information is more important than ever given the age of COVID.

Clubs New Zealand 2021 Wage and Salary Guide

We would like to thank all clubs that participated in this years Wage and Salary Survey and are pleased to announce that the Clubs New Zealand 2021 Wage and Salary Guide is now available for members to download in the resource room.

The 2021 Wage and Salary Survey was conducted as an online survey from 5th July 2021 through to 31st August 2021 for which we received a total of 115 responses.

Clubs New Zealand Submission on the Incorporated Societies Bill

You will all be aware that public submissions are now being called for the Incorporated Societies Bill.  The bill proposes to put in place a modern framework of basic legal, governance, and accountability obligations for incorporated societies and those who run them. 

The proposed bill is of significance to the Club Industry and far more in depth than the current 1908 Act.
