This course is offered by Industry Training Solutions and is for any person wishing to become a certified Manager in any licensed premise in NZ. It includes NZQA unit standards 4646 & 16705, covering the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and host responsibility requirements as a duty manager of a licensed premise. These units make up the Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ), the required qualification to be able to apply to your local District Licensing Committee for a Manager's Certificate.

Duration of Course:
The course is comprised of a self-paced pre-course research project, followed by a 1 day workshop. The prefect combination of correspondence and classroom based learning.
Pre-course Project (part one of assessment process): You should allow yourself up to 1 week to research and complete the project - this will depend on your level of industry experience and existing knowledge.
Workshop: 1 day, 9am-5pm. Two further closed book assessments will be completed during the course of the workshop.
Recommended: Previous/existing experience working with the sale of alcohol in a licensed premise. The Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ) is the required qualification for people who wish to apply for a Manager's Certificate, which authorises its holder to be a Duty Manager in any licensed premises in NZ. The knowledge required to achieve this qualification is therefore substantial.
What if I do not pass on the day?
You will be invited to return to attend the next class in your area, or just to resist where you did not show full understanding. There is no cost for the first return/resit.
What happens next?
Once achievement of the units is gained, we will register the unit standards with NZQA and request your LCQ Certificate from ServiceIQ. You will receive notification via email when your LCQ certificate has been requested and can expect to receive it 3 weeks after this date. If you need it sooner than this, we can request urgent processing which should have it to you within a week. This will cost $20. You will also be sent a Managing Licensed Premises course completion certificate as evidence of training. Once you have received both certificates, you can apply to your District Licensing Committee (DLC) for a Manager's Certificate. You will find the DLC at your local council.
