A lot of work by the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) is taking place prior to the full introduction of the Food Act.

  • The transition timeline starts in March 2016 and has been extended out to end in February 2019. Clubs will be in the first group to transition across to the new Act.
  • A new 'Where Do I Fit Tool' is planned to be released this September. This should be invaluable to clubs to find out what they will need to comply with the new Act:
    • Will my kitchen and/or bar need to go onto a Food Control Plan (FCP) or a National Programme?
    • What do I need to do now that I know where the Club fits in?
    • Where do I go for help?
  • Cabinet approved the Draft Regulations on 6th July 2015 and these have now been received by the Parliamentary Council Office. It is hoped that the after the draft regulations are put out for consultation in October, they will be released be released prior to Christmas.
  • Information Papers and Guidance is also being worked on along with some Notice on implementing the Food Act.

The Food Act will impact on your Club in some way, shape or form so please keep and eye out for updates prior to transition.
